  • Scrap (verb) – रद्दी माल, फेंकना
    Meaning – Abolish or cancel (a plan, policy, or law)

    Sentence – The system stipulates the rules and requirements that must be observed by the two parties.
  • Prerequisite (noun) शर्त, आधार, जरूरी
    Meaning – A thing that is required as a prior condition for something else to happen or exist.
    Synonyms – necessary condition, essential, requirement.
    Sentence – Such experiments require at least two prerequisites.
  • Fray (noun) दंगा, लड़ाई
    Meaning – A battle or fight.
    Synonyms – contest/competition, engagement, conflict
    Sentence – He charged into the thick of the fray and went down fighting.
  • Ill-considered (adjective) – चेतनाशून्य
    Meaning – Badly thought out.
    Synonyms – unconsidered, ill-advised, ill-judged/unwise.
    Sentence – In the heat of the moment ill-considered remarks are often made.
  • Paternalism (noun) 
    Meaning – behaviour of people in authority in a fatherly manner restricting rights or responsibilities of subordinate and make decisions on their own.
    Sentence – I moved towards the right by talking to the alleged ‘beneficiaries’ of liberal paternalism.
  • Penalise (verb) – दंड देना
    Meaning – Subject to a penalty or punishment.
    Synonyms – punish, discipline, deal with.
    Sentence – As a result householders are being penalised by ever increasing charges.

  • Persuade (verb) – राज़ी करना
    Meaning – Cause (someone) to believe something, especially after a sustained effort; convince.
    Synonyms – convince, influence, coax/prompt.
    Sentence – Health boards were finally persuaded of the desirability of psychiatric units.
  • Cue (noun) – संकेत
    Meaning – A thing said or done that serves as a signal to an actor or other performer to enter or to begin their speech or performance.
    Synonyms – sign, indication, hint.
    Sentence – She had not yet been given her cue to come out on to the dais.
  • Recast (verb) – मरम्मत, पुनर्निर्माण
    Meaning – Give (a metal object) a different form by melting it down and reshaping it.
    Synonyms – rework, remodel, adapt/change.
    Sentence – This metal would be recast into additional cannon.
  • Ways and means (phrase)
    Meaning – methods and resources.
  • Representative (adjective) प्रतिनिधि
    Meaning – (of a government or political system) based on elected or chosen representatives.
    Synonyms – democratic.
    Sentence – None of this is an argument against representative government.
  • Desist (verb) – विरत, उदासीन होना
    Meaning – Stop doing something; cease or abstain.
    Synonyms – abstain, refrain, hold back.
    Sentence – The management warned the group to cease and desist from using this name.
  • Breach (noun) उल्लंघन
    Meaning – An act of breaking or failing to observe a law, agreement, or code of conduct.
    Synonyms – contravention, violation, infringement.
    Sentence – I am talking about gross breaches of code of conduct.
