  • Buy time (phrase) 
    Meaning – delay, linger, waste time.
  • Garner (verb) – संचित करना, इकट्ठा करना
    Meaning – Gather or collect (something, especially information or approval)
    Synonyms – gather, collect, accumulate.
    Sentence – The police struggled to garner sufficient evidence.
  • Defection (noun) – भंग, उल्लंघन, कर्तव्य छोड़कर भागना
    Meaning – The desertion of one’s country or cause in favour of an opposing one.

  • Stipulate (verb) – शर्त लगाना, प्रतिज्ञा करना

  • In the face of (phrase) 
    Meaning – despite, notwithstanding, regardless of.
  • Summon (verb) – बुलाने,  बुलवाना, आह्वान करना
    Meaning – Order (someone) to be present.

  • Prorogue (verb) – अवसान करना, टालना, स्थगित करना
    Meaning – to postpone/terminate a session of a Parliament without dissolving it.
    Synonyms – disband, disestablish, dismiss
    Sentence – The government was hoping to prorogue parliament on 20 November.
  • Enumerate (verb)एक एक करके बताना, गिनवाना, विस्तृत विवरण करना
    Meaning – Mention (a number of things) one by one.
    Synonyms – calculate, compute, count.
    Sentence – There is not space to enumerate all his works.
  • Override (verb) – अवहेलना, कुचल देना, रद्द करना
    Meaning – Use one’s authority to reject or cancel (a decision, view, etc.)
    Synonyms – disallow, overrule, reverse.
    Sentence – The courts will ultimately override any objections.
  • Hold out (phrasal verb) 
    Meaning – continue, remain, carry on.
  • Undermine (verb) – कमजोर, क्षीण करना
    Meaning – Erode the base or foundation of (a rock formation)
    Synonyms – weaken, compromise, subvert.
    Sentence – The flow of water had undermined pillars supporting the roof.

    Meaning – 
    aftermath, as a result of, as a consequence of.
  • At a crossroads (phrase) 
    Meaning – at a situation when an important decision ought to be made.
  • Consolidation (noun)समेकन, एकत्रीकरण, चकबंदी
    Meaning – The action or process of making something stronger or more solid.
    Synonyms – strengthening, reinforcement, stabilization.
    Sentence – The permanent consolidation of peace.
  • Retreat (noun) – पीछे हटना, मैदान छोड़ना, पलायन
