Legal Glossary (कानूनी शब्दावली) का प्रयोग सामान्यत: उच्चतम न्यायालय (Supreme Court) और उच्च न्यायालय (High Court) में किया जाता है, इन्हीं न्यायालयों के द्वारा आयोजित की जाने वाली परीक्षाओं को ध्यान में रखते हुए यहाँ पर Legal Glossary (कानूनी शब्दावली) के कुछ शब्दों के बारे में हम जानेंगे। यह अध्याय कई भागों (Parts) में होगा, जिसमे 20-20 Legal Glossary (कानूनी शब्दावली) को जानेंगे। यह Legal Glossary (कानूनी शब्दावली) का भाग – 2 है।

1. ऐडैन्डम – जोड़ी गई अथवा जोड़ी जाने वाली कोई बात।
ADDENDUM – A thing added or to be added.
2. ऐडिक्शन – किसी व्यक्ति का भावनात्मक तौर पर किसी नशे की दवा के प्रयोग पर निर्भर करना जिसके प्रभाव के कारण वह इसके निरंतर प्रयोग की आवश्यकता अनुभव है और जिसके प्रति उसमें सहन शक्ति विकसित हो गई हो और जिसकी और अधिक और तेज मात्रा की उसे जरूरत महसूस हो।
ADDICTION – A person who has become emotionally dependent on the use of a drug and the effect is an irresistible need to continue its use and has developed a tolerance to the drug and requires larger stronger doses.
3. ऐडीटर – नई सुनवाई की याचिका को रद्द करने की शर्त के रूप में निर्णायक मण्डल के निर्णय द्वारा धन संबंधी अवार्ड की राशि को बढ़ाने का ट्रायल कोर्ट का अधिकार। इस वृद्धि के लिए प्रतिवादी की सहमति।
ADDITUR – The power of a trial court to increase the amount of an award of money to one party made by jury verdict, as a condition of denial of motion for new trial. The defendant must consent to the increased money award, the plaintiff need not consent.
4. ऐडिसन कान्ट्रैक्टस – आवश्यक है जबकि वादी की सहमति आवश्यक नहीं है। वह समझौता जिसमें किसी एक पक्ष के पास इसकी शर्तों के प्रति कोई वास्तविक विकल्प नहीं होता।
ADHESION CONTRACTS – Contract where one party has no real choice as to its terms.
5. ऐडजौर्नमैंट – अदालती सुनवाई को किसी अन्य तिथि अथवा स्थान तक आगे डालना।
ADJOURNMENT – To put off a court hearing until another time or place.
6. ऐडजूडीकेट – जब कोई जज किसी मुकद्दमे की सुनवाई करता है और उसका निर्णय करता है।
ADJUDICATE – When a judge hears and decides a case.
7. ऐडजूडीकेशन – किसी मुकद्दमे अथवा सुनवाई में जज का निर्णय।
ADJUDICATION – The judge’s decision in a case or action.
8. ऐडमिनिस्टर –
(1) प्रबंध करना,
(2) टीके द्वारा स्वास द्वारा, मार्ग से अथवा किसी अन्य विधि से उस व्यक्ति के लिए तत्काल आवश्यक नशीली दवा का सेवन।
ADMINISTER –
(1) to manage;
(2) taking a drug by injection, inhalation, ingestion, or any other means, to the body for that person’s immediate needs.
9. ऐडमिनिस्ट्रेटर –
1. बिना वसीयत किए ‘मृतक की जायदादका प्रतिनिधित्व करने वाला व्यक्ति,
2. अदालत कोई अधिकारी
ADMINISTRATOR –
1. Man who represents the estate of a person who dies without a will.
2. A court official.
10. ऐडमिनिस्ट्रेक्सि – बिना वसीनयत किए मृतक की जायदाद का प्रतिनिधित्व करने वाली स्त्री।
ADMINISTRATRIX – Woman who represents the estate of a person who dies without a will
11. ऐडमिसीबल – किसी निर्णय पर पहुंचने के लिए उपर्युक्त एवं विचार करने योग्य।
ADMISSIBLE – Pertinent and proper to be considered in reaching a decision.
12. ऐडमिसीबल ऐपीडेंस – वे प्रमाण जो कानुनी और उपर्युक्त ढंग से अदालत में प्रयोग सकते हैं।
ADMISSIBLE EVIDENCE – Evidence that can be legally and properly be used in court.
13. ऐडमीशन – किसी तथ्यों की सत्यता के बारे में कथन। परन्तु स्वयं को दोषी न कहना।
ADMISSION – Saying that certain facts are true. But not saying you are guilty. (Compare with CONFESSION)
14. ऐडमोनिश – चेतावनी देना, परामर्श देना अथवा डांटना।
ADMONISH – To warn, advise, or scold.
15. ऐडमोनीशन – अदालत के द्वारा निर्णायक मण्डल के सदस्यों को निर्णायकों के रूप में उनके कर्तव्यों तथा उस उद्देश्य के बारे में परामर्श अथवा चेतावनी जिसके लिए प्रमाणों पर विचार किया जाना है।
ADMONITION – Advice or caution by the court to the jury respecting their duty or conduct as jurors, and the purpose for which evidence may be considered.
16. ऐडमोनीशन टू जूररस – जज द्वारा निर्णायक मण्डल के सदस्यों को यह सलाह कि उन्हें क्या करना चाहिए और कैसा व्यवहार करना चाहिए, वे अपने निर्णय पर पहुंचने के लिए किन प्रमाणों का प्रयोग कर सकते हैं और वे उन प्रमाणों का प्रयोग किस प्रकार कर सकते हैं।
ADMONITION TO JURORS – What the judge says to the jury about what they must do and how they must behave, what evidence they can use to make their decision (called “admissible” evidence), and how they can use that evidence to make a decision.
17. ऐडौपशन – वह विधि जिसके द्वारा खूनी रिश्ता न होने पर भी किसी बच्चे और किसी माता या पिता के बीच संबंध को कानूनी रूप दिया जाता है।
ADOPTION – The way to make the relationship between a parent and child legal when they are not related by blood.
18. ऐडौप्टिव ऐडमीशन – किसी पक्ष द्वारा की गई वह कार्यवाही जो किसी दूसरे व्यक्ति के कथनों से सहमति प्रकट करती है।
ADOPTIVE ADMISSION – Action by a party that communicates agreement with the statements of another person.
19. ऐडवरसरी सिस्टम – संयुक्त राज्य अमेरिका और कुछ अन्य देशों में मुकद्दमे की सुनवाई की प्रथा जिसके अन्तर्गत दोनों पक्षों में से कोई पक्ष को दूसरे पक्ष के प्रति अदालत में प्रतिकूल स्थितियां पेश व सिद्ध करने का अवसर मिलता है।
ADVERSARY SYSTEM – The system of trial practice in the United States and some other countries in which each of the opposing (or “adversary”) parties has the opportunity to present and establish opposing positions before the court.
20. ऐडवर्स विटनेस – वह व्यक्ति जिसे विरोधी पक्ष के लिए ग्वाह के तौर पर बुलाया गया हो।
ADVERSE WITNESS – A person called to testify for the other side.
