Answer – Name the birds that you are likely to find in the rain forests of the Amazon. 

(iv) What are the major cities located on the River Ganga?
Answer – The major cities located on the River Ganga are Allahabad, Kanpur, Varanasi, Lucknow, Patna and Kolkata.

(v) Where is the one-horned rhinoceros found?
Answer – The one-horned rhinoceros is found in the Brahmaputra Plain.

(i) The rainforests are depleting.
Answer – The rainforests are depleting because of the large scale development and industrial activities. Deforestation has increased, because of which the topsoil of land is getting washed away, decreasing the soil fertility. As a result, trees are unable to grow and the rainforests are depleting.

(ii) Paddy is grown in the Ganga-Brahmaputra plains.
Answer – The cultivation of paddy requires sufficient water. The Ganga-brahmaputra plains fulfil this condition because they receive high rainfall.
