Answer –\u00a0<\/strong>Stars –\u00a0 <\/strong>Stars are very big and hot celestial bodies made up of gases. They have their own heat and light, which they emit in large amounts. Ex – Sun.
\nPlanets – <\/strong>\u00a0Planets are celestial bodies, usually smaller than stars. They do not have their own heat and light. They are lit by the light of stars. Ex – Earth, Mercury, etc.<\/span><\/p>\n

(b) What is meant by the \u2018Solar System\u2019?

Answer –<\/strong>\u00a0The sun, the eight planets, satellites and some other celestial bodies known as meteoroids and asteroids form the solar system.<\/span><\/p>\n

(c) Name all the planets according to their distance from the sun.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Answer –\u00a0<\/strong>In order of their distance from the sun, the planets are Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, and Neptune.<\/span><\/p>\n

(d) Why is the Earth called a unique planet?<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Answer –\u00a0<\/strong>The earth is a unique planet of the solar system because:
\n1.\u00a0 Conditions favourable to support life are probably found only on the earth.
\n2. The earth is neither too hot nor too cold. It has water and air, which are very essential for our survival.<\/span><\/p>\n

(e) Why do we see only one side of the moon always?<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Answer –\u00a0<\/strong>We always see only one side of the moon, because the moon moves around the earth in about 27 days and it takes exactly the same time to complete one spin.<\/span><\/p>\n

(f) What is the Universe?<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Answer –\u00a0<\/strong>Millions of galaxies together form the Universe. A galaxy is a huge system of billions of stars and clouds of dust and gases.<\/span><\/p>\n
