2. What is the role of decomposers in the ecosystem ?<\/strong><\/span>
\nAnswer – <\/strong>Decomposers include micro-organisms such as bacteria and fungi that obtain nutrients by breaking down the remains of dead plants and animals. They help in the breakdown of organic matter or biomass from the body of dead plants and animals into simple inorganic raw materials, such as CO2<\/sub>, H2<\/sub>O, and some nutrients.<\/span><\/p>\n

1. Why are some substances biodegradable and some non-biodegradable?
\n<\/strong>Answer –\u00a0<\/strong>The microorganism like bacteria and other decomposer organisms (called saprophytes) present In our environment are specific in their action. So, it is due to the property of decomposer organisms of being specific in their action that some waste materials are biodegradable, whereas others are non-biodegradable.<\/span><\/p>\n
