Once there was a talking fan \u2014
\nElectrical his chatter.
\nI couldn\u2019t quite hear what he said
\nAnd I hope it doesn\u2019t matter
\nBecause one day somebody oiled
\nHis little whirling motor
\nAnd all the mystery was spoiled \u2014
\nHe ran as still as water.

Working with the Poem<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

1. Fans don\u2019t talk, but it is possible to imagine that they do. What is it, then, that sounds like the fan\u2019s chatter?
\n<\/span><\/strong>Answer –\u00a0<\/strong>The noise produced by the fan\u2019s motor with less oil sounds like the fan\u2019s chatter.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

2.\u00a0Complete the following sentences.<\/span><\/strong>
\n<\/span>(i)<\/strong> The chatter is electrical because ____________________.
\n<\/span>(ii)<\/strong> It is mysterious because ____________________.
\n<\/span>Answer –
\n(i)<\/strong> The chatter is electrical because the noise is being produced by electrical motor of the fan<\/strong><\/span>.
\n<\/span>(ii)<\/strong> It is mysterious because we cannot understand what the fan is speaking<\/strong><\/span>.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

3.\u00a0What do you think the talking fan was demanding?
\n<\/span><\/strong>Answer –\u00a0<\/strong>The talking fan seems to be demanding They need some oiling to some attention. It was demanding oiling. The moment it was oiled. it fell silent.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

4.\u00a0How does an electric fan manage to throw so much air when it is switched on?
\n<\/span><\/strong>Answer –<\/strong>\u00a0An electric fan manages to throw so much air when it is switched on as it has an electric motor which rotates and makes the three blades of the fan move round and round at a specified speed.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

5.\u00a0Is there a \u2018talking fan\u2019 in your house? Create a dialogue between the fan and a mechanic.
\n<\/span><\/strong>Answer –<\/strong>
\nFan :<\/strong> Hello, Mr. Mechanic ! Can you hear me ?
\nMechanic :<\/strong> Of course, I do. What is it that you want ?
\nFan :<\/strong> That\u2019s for you to find out. I only know that I am feeling restless.
\nMechanic :<\/strong> Don\u2019t worry. I\u2019ll put in some oil in your motor and then you will be quite comfortable once again.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n
