(i) The rainforests are depleting.
\n<\/strong><\/span>Answer – <\/strong><\/span>The rainforests are depleting because of the large scale development and industrial activities. Deforestation has increased, because of which the topsoil of land is getting washed away, decreasing the soil fertility. As a result, trees are unable to grow and the rainforests are depleting.<\/span><\/p>\n

(ii) Paddy is grown in the Ganga-Brahmaputra plains.
\n<\/strong><\/span>Answer – <\/strong>The cultivation of paddy requires sufficient water. The Ganga-brahmaputra plains fulfil this condition because they receive high rainfall.<\/span><\/p>\n
