Chapter – 1 <\/span>(A Tale of Two Birds)<\/span><\/span><\/h2>\n

1. How did the two baby birds get separated?
\n<\/strong>Answer –\u00a0<\/strong>A strong wind uprooted many trees, destroyed the nest and killed the mother bird. The wind blew away the two baby birds to the other side of the forest. This is how they got separated.<\/span><\/p>\n

2. Where did each of them find a home?
\n<\/strong>Answer – <\/strong>One of them came down near a cave where a gang of robbers lived. The other stayed outside a Rishi\u2019s ashram, a little distance away.<\/span><\/p>\n

3. What did the first bird say to the stranger?
\n<\/strong>Answer –\u00a0<\/strong>The first bird spoke to alert the robbers in the cave that there was a person with jewellery beneath the tree and should be looted soon otherwise he might slip away.<\/span><\/p>\n

4. What did the second bird say to him?
\n<\/strong>Answer –\u00a0<\/strong>The second bird lived in the rishi\u2019s ashram. He welcomed the king into the ashram, told him where cold water was and asked him to wait inside for the rishi to return.<\/span><\/p>\n

5. How did the rishi explain the different ways in which the birds behaved?
\n<\/strong>Answer –\u00a0<\/strong>The Rishi explained one is known by the kind of company one keeps. The first bird imitated the robbers.
\nIt learnt bad things from robbers. The second bird repeated what it learnt at the ashram.<\/span><\/p>\n

6. Which one of the following sums up the story best?
\n<\/strong>(i) A bird in hand is worth two in the bush.
\n(ii) One is known by the company one keeps.
