Where do all the teachers go
\nWhen it\u2019s four o\u2019clock?
\nDo they live in houses
\nAnd do they wash their socks?<\/span><\/p>\n

Do they wear pyjamas
\nAnd do they watch TV?
\nAnd do they pick their noses
\nThe same as you and me?
\n<\/span><\/p>\n

Do they live with other people
\nHave they mums and dads?
\nAnd were they ever children
\nAnd were they ever bad?
\n<\/span><\/p>\n

Did they ever, never spell right
\nDid they ever make mistakes?
\nWere they punished in the corner
\nIf they pinched the chocolate flakes?
\n<\/span><\/p>\n

Did they ever lose their hymn books
\nDid they ever leave their greens?
\nDid they scribble on the desk tops

1. Answer these questions<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

(i) Why does the poet want to know where the teachers go at four o\u2019clock?<\/strong><\/span>
\nAnswer –\u00a0<\/strong>The poet thinks that his teachers are not ordinary persons. He looks upon them as super or special human beings. So he wants to know where they go and what they do after the school hours.<\/span><\/p>\n

(ii) What are the things normal people do that the poet talks about?<\/strong>
\nAnswer –\u00a0<\/strong><\/span>Normal people return to their home, change their clothes, wash their faces and become fresh. They also rest for a while. Some of them go for shopping or help the children with their homework.<\/span><\/p>\n

(iii) What does he imagine about<\/strong>
\n(a) where teachers live?<\/strong>
\nAnswer –\u00a0<\/strong>The teachers lived in houses.
\n<\/span><\/p>\n

(b) what they do at home?<\/strong>
\nAnswer –\u00a0<\/strong>He imagines if the teachers also washed their socks, wore pajamas, picked their noses, and watched TV.

(iv) Why does the poet wonder if teachers also do things that other people do?<\/strong>
\nAnswer –\u00a0<\/strong>The poet wondered if teachers also do things that other people do because he had seen them as super humans. They are strict, did not make any mistakes and punish those who did.

(v) How does the poet plan to find out? What will he do once he finds out?<\/strong>
\nAnswer –\u00a0<\/strong>The poet plans to get first hand information about his teacher. He plans to follow one of his teachers and find out what he\/she does. Then he will record his findings in a poem for the benefit of other children.
